No Bonaire trip would be complete without a boat trip to Klein Bonaire, so we signed up for a two-tank dive. The dive boat was just like Aqua Safari's Ocean II boat, and not too crowded.
Our first site was Jerry's Reef, where we saw two turtles, one which posed for us! What a ham. They moored us upcurrent, so we drifted with the current to 2400 PSI, then had a tough swim back against a half-to-three-quarter knot current. The whole way. It seemed like an eternity, wish they'd moored up-current! No wonder the Divemaster called it so quickly.
Meanwhile, we saw every kind of Bonairean sponge you could imagine -- next time I need my 24mm wide-angle lens! Along the way the Divemaster pointed out the octopus hidden in broad daylight on the end of a coral head; I had to stare at it for 30 seconds until I finally realized what it was. Nice camo!
We had over an hour surface interval, with watermelon and pineapple juice, while we moored along the short of Klein Bonaire. Some of the gang swam to the shore and explored -- ain't much to see on that little rock!
Mi Dushi means "My Sweetheart" in Dutch, and this was a phenomenal
dive! We did this one right - we first swam into the
current, then drifted back. Meanwhile the Divemaster took us right to
seahorses, two different ones! The little guys wouldn't swim out of
the coral bramble, but I took a swarm of pictures in hopes a few would
turn out. On the way back, we saw a huge rockfish and a large grouper,
possibly a Nassau.
