Spotted Scorpionfish

Large Bristle Worm

Spotted Drum
and Babies!

This was the crowning dive of our trip by far! Night dives on the pier must be coordinated and led by an authorized representative, and Monique from Toucan took us on the tour. The pier had only a handful of small boats, and it was serenely quiet with only a handful of other divers around.

Eels, eels everywhere! Hiding in tires, under coral heads, anywhere space could be found. Several spotted drum, including one that was viciously guarding "her" tire and her two tiny babies! (Oh, how I wished for a 105mm macro lens for that shot! If I got too close mommy had to back off, and I wanted all of them in the shot!)

Scorpionfish, Bristle Worms, plus plenty of other macro life! A huge Porcupinefish, a free-swimming Moray, an old shark head, and so much more!

Beth was briefly separated from us, but with such a small and shallow dive site (we never broke 30 feet) we hooked up again quickly. At the end of the dive Monique played with a large and curious Arrow Crab, which seemed as intrigued by her fingers as we were with him. All in all a terrific dive, we want to go back!
