We thought Weber's Joy (also known as Witches Hut, thanks to a small hut near the site) would be a little easier on us. After a very simple entry, we had a really lovely dive! Peaceful, beautiful swimming. A medium current was headed south, and we spent the whole dive swimming gently against it. I only took a few photos, preferring mostly to relax and chill out.
Unfortunately the surge was heavy and the current stronger at the exit, and it swept us way past our desired exit spot. After having been beat up at Andrea I, we went through it again this time. I put a few nasty scratches on the metal case of my SLR housing, and I seriously scraped the plastic shield on my Vyper Computer -- though both kept watertight integrity. I think this is where we lost our wrist-mount backup computer, and we both scratched and bruised ourselves pretty good. (Although this was a great dive, we both agreed that this was pretty much the extent of our skills, and we wouldn't do this kind of surf again.)
Bachelor Beach is a small dive site between several homes and hotels, and has a very easy entry down a small rock/stairs climb. It was a very relaxing dive, which is just as well since we were pretty wiped out! I saw tons of great macro life, another big Spotted Drum, an old anchor line swaying in the surge, and others. I didn't take many photos, again just mostly relaxing.
The exit wasn't too bad, but after this morning's abuse, we were
a little raw already. We crawled out on hands and knees and vowed to
make it a calm and quiet day tomorrow. Ay Caramba!
