We didn't waste any time after the boat dive, and were at the Alice in Wonderland site at 11:00 AM, and ready to hit the water ten minutes later. Since this was our last full day of diving, we were bound-and-determined to get in four good dives!
We saw a Flounder buried in the white sand, and a Drum and Blackbar Soldierfish and Parrotfish all hiding in a coral head. Beth found an Octopus hiding deep inside a coral head, as well as an Eel trail which she traced to the head.
This was a great dive for practicing surf-, current- and wind-handling skills.
Strong winds were blowing Northeastward, waves pounding Westward, and a current
running South. Pretty wild combination! We swam out against the waves (but with
some slight help from the wind). We dropped to the A.I.W. buoy in 15 feet of water
and swam to 49 foot deep, heading North into the current and then returning at a
depth of 25-to-15 feet. We knew the swim back would be tough, thanks to the wind,
so we stayed submerged until we surfaced in ten feet of water; this greatly reduced
our swim time.
