It seemed like the trip would never get here - then suddenly, it was all upon us, and how could we be ready on time! Beth had just finished a long and extremely demanding week a work. The construction business, and her employer, are going gangbusters, and every hour she could work - well, they'd just as soon she worked.
And I had just finished my MBA in MIS (Master of Information Systems) at St. Edward's University -- the most difficult semester I'd ever had. The night before, I gave my final presentation and I hadn't started packing until 11 PM. By 2 AM I was finally ready to go, camera, clothing, dive gear, all my checklists complete... and had to be up at 5 AM for the flight. It was only the excitement of blue water that kept us going that morning!
The plane trip was uneventful. We're both accomplished travelers and Continental Airlines did us pretty well. We'd had an absolutely terrible time with scheduling -- but that's another story, and a long one at that -- so I'll just mention that Beth and I are never taking another trip with Island Dreams travel.
The staff at the Casa
Mexicana
always do a great job. They're reasonably inexpensive, provide really clean
rooms with good air conditioning, provide four-star maid service, and include
TVs and phones (though on a dive trip, you really shouldn't need any of
that, right?
As a bonus, the cleaning
staff always create a little terrycloth animal or decoration on your bed when
you get back from diving. Beth thought they were darling, so she took the above
pictures.
